Join us at Keep Tempe Beautiful for an informative session on the Tempe Treasured Trees program, this Tuesday, May 7th, from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Clark Park Community Garden.

This gathering is a pivotal opportunity for all who cherish Tempe’s natural and historical heritage through its living landmarks—our trees. You’ll learn not only about the significance of these trees but also how you can actively participate in safeguarding them.

We need your enthusiasm and skills in various areas, including tree identification, chronicling tree histories, educational outreach, event support, and community engagement.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AREAS

Tree Identification & Documentation:

• Identify and document vital trees across Tempe, helping to create a list of 24 ‘Treasured Trees’ in publicly accessible locations such as parks and municipal areas. You’ll detail tree species, health, history, and locations, contributing to an essential database that will guide our preservation efforts and inform the community. Your work is vital for meeting our March 2025 goal and will leave a legacy in the city’s urban forest narrative.

Community Engagement & Outreach:

• Expand Our Network and Impact: Collaborate with local organizations to drive community participation in nominating their favorite trees. Manage these nominations and ensure that selected trees are featured in our regular communications. Aim to identify and document 24 treasured trees by the end of March 2025.

Educational Outreach:

• Spread the Word: Inform and encourage the community and local organizations to engage in the nomination process. Develop educational materials that clarify the nomination process and the importance of each tree. Help achieve our goal of documenting 24 significant trees by March 2025.

Event Planning & Support:

• Showcase Our Trees: Take a hands-on role in organizing and staffing event information tables at local gatherings, which bring the community together and shine a spotlight on the nominated trees. Your involvement in these events, and in broader community happenings, is key to reaching our goal of identifying and documenting 24 significant trees by March 2025.

Chronicle:

• Document Community Choices: Engage with storytelling that honors the trees selected by the community. Take part in capturing their history, character, and the very essence that makes them significant. These narratives will help fulfill our mission to chronicle 24 trees by March 2025, ensuring their legacies are celebrated in our ongoing communications.
